Background：
Chi-Chi Earthquake happened ten years ago was of a nightmare to people in Taiwan. Thousands of casualties were claimed from such disaster, but what have we learned from the recovery process in the past ten years after the Chi-Chi Earthquake? How can we integrate the advanced technology into action for disaster risk reduction? How can we be more prepared when facing a large scale disaster? How can we work together to create a sustainable environment?

Reconstruction and Prospection will be the theme for this conference. There will be more than two hundreds of speakers presenting with great researches from the scientific studies in the fields of earthquake Science, Earthquake Engineering, Social and Economical Impacts,Land Dynamics in Mountains Watershed and After Typhoon Morakot.. There will be discussion sessions and an on-site learning and studying on the evaluation of damaged communication and the reconstruction of a society in the central part of Taiwan.
